You may have noticed that when you receive an
attachment with an email you are unable to open the attachment
or save the attachment to your hard drive. The reason for this
is that Windows Mail has the 'Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option
enabled.' Obviously, this is a safeguard against malicious
attachments. However, if you receive attachments from friends
you need to be able to open them. Here is how you disable the
attachment virus protection option.
1/ In Windows Mail click Tools on the main toolbar
2/ From the drop down menu select Options
3/ In the options window select the Security tab
4/ At the top you will see a section marked 'Virus
protection'
5/ The very last option is 'Do not allow attachments to be
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus'
6/ Remove the check mark from this option to disable it
7/ Click the Apply button
8/ Finally click OK to exit
